Emergency Support

  • Campaign for Southern Equality

    Campaign for Southern Equality is providing small grants ($500), as of May 2023, to parents of transgender youth affected by Florida’s bans and restrictions on gender-affirming care. Families of trans youth are eligible to get help with immediate needs, such as travel expenses (to access care out of state), medication costs, and mental health or wellness requirements.

  • Point of Pride

    Point of Pride provides financial aid to trans folks in need of gender-affirming health care. Also free chest binders and femme shapewear.

  • Emergency Relocation

    Project Open Arms is a grassroots resettlement project to help support red state “transplants” – trans+ people and their families – seeking safer, more welcoming places to live.

    Move to Thrive offers interest-free loans of up to $10,000 for individuals and families to support relocation costs to another state because of anti-LGBTQ+ laws, policies, and climate in their current state of residence. 

  • Crisis Support

    Trans Lifeline is a peer support phone service run by trans people for trans and questioning peers. Call if you need someone trans to talk to, even if you’re not in a crisis or if you’re not sure you’re trans.

    The Trevor Project offers crisis support via online chat, telephone, and text.

  • Travel Assistance

    Elevated Access connects you with volunteer pilots who transport passengers at no cost to access the healthcare they need.

  • Access to GAC Outside of Florida

    QueerMed is an organization that provides high quality, personalized, evidence-based care nationwide. Trans youth who are unable to initiate gender-affirming care in Florida can book an appointment with QueerMed in any state without a ban.

Social Support

  • Pride Community Center of North Central Florida

    Pride Community Center of North Central Florida (PCCNCF) is a safe space for the LGBTQ+ Community in North Central Florida.

    In addition to putting on the annual Pride Festival in Gainesville, FL, they also provide the Gainesville Area AIDS Project, social events and therpeutic groups, meeting space free for rental by LGBTQ+ people, an LGBTQ+ library and information hub, volunteer opportunities, and more! You can follow the Pride Center on Facebook or Instagram.

  • The Nook

    The Nook Inclusive Therapeutic Center is a trusted and affirming multidisciplinary therapeutic practice in Gainesville, Florida that offers an integrative and personal approach to counseling and the therapeutic relationship. The Nook offers individual counseling, group therapy, play therapy, family counseling, and psychiatric services (provided by psychiatric nurse practitioners).

    The Nook partners with Camp Silver to provide free monthly support groups for trans youth, and concurrent support groups for the parents of trans youth, focused on building community and having a safe space to share and connect.

  • Unspoken Treasure Society

    Unspoken Treasure Society “exists to inspire, empower, uplift, and create platforms to give a voice to voiceless transgender and gender non-conforming persons of marginalized communities.” It has chapters in Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Atlanta. In Gainesville it meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Pride Center.

  • PFLAG Gainesville

    PFLAG helping LGBTQ+ youth & adults in Gainesville, FL and surrounding areas feel safe, celebrated, empowered, & loved.

  • Tranquility

    TranQuility is “a social group for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in North Central Florida.” Times and locations of the activities vary.

  • Transcending Adolescence

    Transcending Adolescence camp and family retreats for trans and nonbinary individuals under age 21 and their families.

  • Equality Florida

    Parenting with Pride creates communities where every LGBTQ+ child feels safe, affirmed, and loved.

  • Trans Social

    TransSocial is a South Florida based organization that advocates for Trans visibility and unity within TLGBQ+ community. They offer suport and resources to the TLGBQ+ community in Florida and Georgia.

  • Provider Databases

    World Professional Association for Transgender Health’s (WPATH) searchable database of providers.

    Gay and Lesbian Medical Association’s (GLMA) searchable database of providers.

    Trans in the South has a searchable directory of trans-friendly providers, including those who offer telehealth.

  • QueerMed

    QueerMed is an organization that provides high quality, personalized, evidence-based care nationwide. Trans youth who are unable to initiate gender-affirming care in Florida can book an appointment with QueerMed in any state without a ban.

  • Transgender Health Education Network:

    Transgender Health Education Network: A Gainesville organization that educates healthcare providers about caring for trans people.

  • PLUME

    Plume Clinic is a virtual gender-affirming care clinic and a trusted source of community, wellness resources, and support for the trans and gender non-conforming community. They are dedicated to providing affirming medical care, everyday health services, and fostering an inclusive community space — all online, for thousands of trans people around the country.

  • The Nook

  • Southern Legal Counsel (SLC)

    Southern Legal Counsel’s (SLC) Transgender Rights Initiative (TRI) seeks to fill gaps in access to justice for transgender Floridians by utilizing federal impact litigation, systemic advocacy, policy reform, and individual representation. SLC’s TRI has many federal lawsuits against the state on behalf of transgender Floridians.

    SLC’s TRI created the first of its kind online tool to provide free assistance on legal name and gender marker changes: Florida Name Change.

  • Stop-Gap Florida

    Stop-Gap Florida was created as a stop-gap measure until such a time as transgender and gender non-conforming people are able to live safely and authentically in Florida, with the hope that gender affirming persecution will eventually cease. Founded upon the belief that knowledge is power, it is a repository of current information concerning the legal landscape in Florida, providing helpful tools and resources to navigate it.

  • Transgender Law Center

    Transgender Law Center champions the rights of all transgender and gender-nonconforming people to make their own choices and live freely, safely, and authentically by advancing community-driven strategies. Their Legal Information Helpdesk provides basic information regarding laws and policies in the United States that affect transgender people across many areas, including employment, health care, housing, civil rights, immigration, prisoners’ rights, and identity document changes. Please note they cannot provide individualized legal advice or representation through their Legal Information Helpdesk.

  • ACLU of Florida

    The ACLU of Florida engages in civil rights litigation on hehalf of the LGBTQ+ community and other margibalized communities. They do not provide individual representation, but provide great resources such as know your rights materials and updates about the status of trans rights in Florida. The National ACLU provides accurate and high quality updates on the status of the Passport ban.

  • Southern Legal Counsel

    Southern Legal Counsel’s (SLC) Transgender Rights Initiative (TRI) seeks to fill gaps in access to justice for transgender Floridians by utilizing federal impact litigation, systemic advocacy, policy reform, and individual representation.

    SLC also provides assistance in areas such as special education advocacy, SSI and SSDI claims, housing issues, consumer protection, and disbility related issues.

    SLC endeavors to keep Floridians up to date on the status of trans rights in this state, how to protect themselves and others, how to access resources, and how to get involved and advocate against discriminatory measures.   • Equality Florida

    Equality Florida is an organization in Florida dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community. Equality Florida uses lobbying, grassroots organizing, education, and coalition building.

National Resources

  • Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE)

    A4TE was founded in 2024 as the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) and Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund (TLDEF), two long-time champions for the trans community, merged together as one organization. A4TE builds on their successes to boldly imagine a world where trans people live our lives joyfully and without barriers. Advocates for the legal and political rights of transgender people in America.

  • A4TE Trans Health Project

    The Advocates for Trans Quality (A4TE) Trans Health Project aims to ensure all transgender and non-binary people can access the trans-related health care they need.

  • Genderbands

    Genderbands: Among other projects, provides small grants for any transition-related procedure and travel related to transition procedure. The grant application period is Oct 1 to Nov 30 every year.

  • LGBTQ Teens Online Talk Group

    The LGBTQ Teens Online Talk Group is a weekly moderated group for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning youth ages 19 and younger to talk in a safe space and to be able to fully express themselves without fear of being made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. This group is a place to discuss concerns and issues and to talk about personal victories.

  • Trans Teen Chatroom

    Trans Teen Chatroom (moderated), a project of the LGBT National Help Center. For trans, nonbinary and gender-expansive youth ages 19 and younger. Thursdays and Fridays, 7:00-10:00 pm Eastern time.

  • Refuge Restrooms

    Refuge Restrooms: A web application that seeks to provide safe restroom access for transgender, intersex, and gender nonconforming individuals. Users can search for restrooms by proximity to a search location, add new restroom listings, as well as comment and rate existing listings.

  • SPARTA

    SPARTA is a transgender military advocacy organization. Provides transgender service members with support and mentoring, educates commanders, lawmakers, service members, and the public on transgender service concerns and best practices, and advocates for the legal right of transgender service members to serve openly, authentically, and as their affirming gender.

  • Trans Justice Funding Project (TJFP)

    Trans Justice Funding Project (TJFP) is a community-run, non-charitable trust that funds Trans-led grassroots organizations in the US and US Territories who exist to serve and improve the lives of their local and national trans, gender non-conforming and non-binary communities.

  • Transgender American Veterans Association (TAVA)

    Transgender American Veterans Association is a membership group open to anyone who served in the United States Armed Forces, educating civilian and military communities and advocating for broader military inclusion and expanded healthcare, including but not limited to the coverage of gender-affirming health care by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
