What will we do?

Camp Silver Family Camp Weekend is a retreat that was designed to create a supportive haven where transgender and nonbinary youth and their families can come together to learn, grow, and create lasting memories.

The Camp Silver Family Weekend was designed at the intersection of living experience and professional knowledge. We recognize that Families come in different shapes and sizes. While we know that transgender and nonbinary youth and their guardians face extraordinary obstacles, we also recognize that siblings have a unique role with their own needs in the family system.

Activities for Adults

  • The camp kicks off with workshops specifically designed for parents/guardians. Experienced professionals provide guidance on understanding transgender and nonbinary identities, navigating challenges, and fostering a nurturing environment at home.

  • Adults also have the opportunity to connect with other parents/guardians, building a network of support and understanding among families who share similar experiences.

  • Workshops focused on self-discovery and personal growth empower adults to explore their own identities and feelings in a safe and welcoming environment.

Activities for Youth

  • Youth can participate in theater workshops, where they learn to express themselves through drama, build confidence, and have fun while honing their acting skills.

  • Creative art sessions encourage self-expression through painting, drawing, and crafting, providing a platform for youth to communicate their thoughts and emotions.

  • Campers can enjoy the thrill of canoeing on the peaceful lake, providing both a physical challenge and a chance to connect with the natural world.

  • For those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, there's plenty of outdoor playtime, allowing youth to engage while enjoying the beauty of nature.

Activities Together & Separate

Camp Silver Family Camp Weekend  is more than just a weekend getaway; it's a lifeline of support and a celebration of diversity. Families leave with newfound connections, a deeper understanding of one another, and a sense of empowerment that lasts long after the campfire embers have faded.

OPEN MIC NIGHT
An evening where anyone can share their own stories, poems, and songs, fostering a sense of unity and self-expression.

The camp carefully balances activities that bring families together and those that allow youth and adults to explore their unique interests. While some activities are designed for adults, others are exclusively for youth, ensuring that everyone has space to grow and connect with peers.

FAMILY BONDING
Meals, campfires, and storytelling sessions provide opportunities for families to connect, share their experiences, and build lifelong memories together.
